Services Available

We help adults, children, men, women, nonbinary, people who hate exercise, and more. We’re here to meet you where you’re at & help you figure out what you want your relationship with food to look like. Each of our services is described below.

How to Eat Peacefully

Up to 1 1/2 hours needed for intake session.

45-60 minute follow-up sessions.

You’ve been told what and how much to eat before, and you know how to diet, but if you’re reading this, you might not know how to simply enjoy eating (without feeling guilty). Treatment for peace with food isn’t about what or how much you eat. (You’ve done that before.) It’s the manner in which you eat, being given permission to discover for yourself what is true about your eating, what you enjoy, and what you don’t.

Individual appointments center around what you’re discovering & learning about your eating. Optional in session eating helps you experientially learn a new way with food based on peace, pleasure and enjoyment (which studies show leads to better health).

How many appointments does a person need? Everyone is different. The basic program includes an initial 60-90 minute assessment and an average of ten 45 minute follow-up sessions, sometimes more, sometimes less.

Your story & our time together will indicate how often your treatment is necessary. Sometimes individuals with fewer struggles need a couple of appointments and they feel they’ve gotten what they wanted. Our work is tailored to you, your needs and desires.

Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for Diabetes, High Cholesterol & Other Conditions

Up to 1 1/2 hours needed for intake sessions.

30-60 minutes follow-up sessions.

Have you been diagnosed with a nutrition - related medical condition? Are you confused by the conflicting nutrition info “out there” leaving you just not sure what to do?

We get it. With multiple degrees in nutrition science, we know how confusing nutrition information can be, especially when it’s simply about the science of nutrition and doesn’t consider the psychology of eating and your relationship with food. Peaceful eaters have better physical health in general.

Did you know doctors & nurses get only a short class in nutrition? Sometimes it’s only a 3 hour seminar!! Yep, even docs struggle to know what’s really true & sometimes provide inaccurate info. That’s why Registered Dietitian Nutritionists exist, with the most advanced degrees in nutrition, we can help you determine what’s actually helpful about nutrition recommendations, even when they come from health professionals. And, at Sunrise Nutrition, recommendations don’t come with a side of guilt and shame.

Things that are included with Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) appointments:

  • An Eating Competence eating assessment to help you know what your eating struggles are & what to do to solve them. Eating isn’t only nutrition science, it’s psychology too. We’re trained in the basics of both related to eating. If you feel you know what to do, but can’t do it, this assessment will be helpful.

  • Review of your labs to help you understand them & how food & lifestyle choices may or may not impact your labs of concern.

  • Basic nutrition education to help know when nutrient intake will actually matter. This helps you to ditch things you think you “should” be doing when they’re actually not shown to help.

  • Assistance with a wider view of the definition of “health”. All of our work is weight neutral and informed by science and is evidence-based.

  • And more!!

Please note: Sunrise Nutrition does not treat Celiac disease, Gastrointestinal issues, Kidney Disease or manage Tube Feed clients. We can provide a recommendation to another dietitian for these issues. If you have these issues & don’t need education about them, but are interested in working on your overall relationship to food - the psychology of your eating - we can help!
